3D Modeling

3D modeling was a skill that I consistently failed to learn through my college years and early adulthood. A few years ago, I made it my goal to learn Blender. Fortunately, this was right around the time that Blender started to make major usability gains. It still struggles in many respects - it's an excellent use case for what happens when you ignore the laws of UX or don't have someone refer to Jakob Nielsen's usability heuristics. Anyone who's used Blender for more than a week can regale you about a time where they've lost hours due to hitting a magic key combination that changes the workspace with no UI feedback.

In less snarky thoughts, this is a collection of objects and spaces modeled, sculpted, and rendered in Blender over the past few years. Even though 3D modeling isn't a traditional part of the UX designer toolkit, we should never turn down the opportunity to learn about a new way to shape and explore the world.
